There are a couple of companies that offer boat tours in Rotterdam, but by far the most popular is Spido. Spido was founded in 1919 and started out as a shipping service for transporting people to various location within the city and the harbour. Steadily as tourism grew Spido focused more and more on day trips for tourists. Nowadays it’s their core business and they offer a wide variety of day tips, tours and cruises.
Probably the most popular of them all is the Harbour Cruise. You get to experience Europe’s busiest port in all it’s glory. From the water you’ll have a unique view of the harbour’s shipyards, docks and container terminals.
The Harbour Cruise comes in two flavors. The 75 minutes standard cruise or the extensive tour, lasting 2,5 hours. If you really want to experience the true size of Rotterdam’s sea port, the extensive tour is a must do. The extensive tour takes you further down the river, to see shipbuilding companies, pipe layers, Roll On-Roll Off ferries and massive dry docks. Things you don’t get to see at the standard Harbour Cruise.
