Where to get the best burgers in Rotterdam

by admin

While there are many places in Rotterdam to get a good burger, we narrowed our selection down to three. In our opinion these are the joints to really get the best burgers of Rotterdam.

Diego’s

Claims to have the best burgers in town and he might be right. Chef Diego Buik has won the title for the ‘Best burger of Rotterdam’ in 2015 and in 2017 he allegedly created the ‘most expensive burger in the world’. The burger consists of Japanese dry-aged Wagyu beef, Oosterschelde lobster (infused with Hermit Dutch Coastal gin), foie gras, white truffles, Remeker cheese, Iberian ham, French lettuce, Japanese fruit tomatoes, and caviar. The brioche bun was coated with 24k gold leaf.

But luckily not all his burger are that pricey. All burgers on the actual menu at Diego’s are between 10 and 19 euros. His well designed burger joint is located in the foot of the Luxor Theatre building. If you get a spot next to the window you can enjoy your burger while watching traffic going over the Erasmus Bridge. And if you’re still hungry try one of his desserts, with alluring names like Snicker Bomb, Death by Chocolate or Pornstar Dessert.

Diego’s is located at Posthumalaan 3 near the Wilhelminaplein subway and tram station. Take subway line D or E or tram nr. 12, 20, 23 or 25.

Burger Club

Diego Buik of just mentioned Diego’s won the best burger award in 2015, the Burger Club won the award in 2016 and 2017. At the Burger Club they serve burgers of three types of meat; MRIJ beef from The Netherlands, Wagyu beef from the United States or Iberico pork from the Spanish region Extremadura. For vegan people two types of burgers are served, Beyond Meat burgers and Dutch seaweed burgers.

If you are a lover of the specific truffle flavor, you should definitely try the Hapsburger. A burger made with wholegrain mustard, 2 years matured Gruyère, caramelized onion and white truffle oil. You can choose the amount of truffle oil drops and the oil will be served at your table.

The Burger Club is located on the very trendy Nieuwe Binnenweg street, in a building that used to house one of Rotterdam’s most famous coffeeshops. The smell of cannabis is gone, and replaced by the smell of grilled quality meat. Take tram nr. 4 towards Marconiplein and stop at tram stop Mathenesserlaan. Burger Club is located at Nieuwe Binnenweg 139A.

Ter Marsch & Co

While Diego’s and the Burger Club won the titles of best Burger of Rotterdam, Ter Marsch & Co even had some national and international fame. They won the award of best burger of The Netherlands in 2015 and 2020. Ter Marsch also finished 12th at the Hamburger World Cup (yes, it exists) with their burger masterpiece The Royal Dutch.

Next to all their award wining burgers, they also serve award winning fries. Read about it on their website, on which they list all the awards they’ve won with their culinary creations.

Opened in 2014, this place has been so succesful that 3 more establishments were opened. One in Utrecht and ofcourse, two in Amsterdam. For sure those Amsterdammers are gonna claim the greatness of Ter Marsch. Just like how they now claim the Rotterdammish culinary masterpiece Kapsalon. But even in Amsterdam they know that the best burger city in this country is still Rotterdam!

Ter Marsch is located at Witte de Withstraat 70. Walk there from subway station Eendrachtsplein or take tram nr. 7 to Willemsplein and stop at Museumpark.
